Amos Strunk had 2 base hits at Sportsman's Park where the Chicago White Sox
beat the St. Louis Browns by the score of 4 to 2.

Chicago took the lead off Hub Pruett in the first inning scoring 2 runners on
3 hits. St. Louis had 11 hits in the game while Chicago had 8, but Chicago
had the more timely hits.

Charlie Robertson(6-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Dixie
Leverett was credited with his 3rd save. Pruett(4-1) absorbed the loss.

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Robertson said.

DETROIT AT CLEVELAND

Bill Wambsganss had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and George Uhle had a complete game
at Dunn Field as the Cleveland Indians, running on all cylinders, ripped the
Detroit Tigers by a large 13 to 3 margin.

Uhle(4-3) had a solid outing for Cleveland. He was reached for 7 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings. Cleveland totaled 13 hits on the afternoon.

Ole Olsen(5-3) was given the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 4
walks in 7 innings.

The Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Dunn Field. The final score was the Detroit Tigers 4, the Cleveland
Indians 3.

Cleveland found themselves trailing quickly as the Detroit bats came through
in the first inning when they came up with 2 runs on 2 hits. Detroit had 11
hits for the game and Cleveland had 5.

The win was credited to Herman Pillette(5-1) who went 8 innings allowing 3
runs. Syl Johnson earned his 3rd save. Stan Coveleski(5-5) took the loss.

Guy Morton completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Cleveland
Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to 2 at Dunn
Field.

Morton(4-5) gave a fine effort for Cleveland. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings. Although they lost, Detroit did out-hit Cleveland 8 to 5.

Howard Ehmke(4-6) took the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 8 innings and saw
his ERA increase from 4.71 to 4.98. The Cleveland ballclub's record now
stands at 21-26. With the loss, the Detroit ballclub's record is 26-19.

Hooks Dauss was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Bobby Veach had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers
bested the Cleveland Indians 11 to 5 at Dunn Field.

Veach had a big day against Cleveland. He doubled which scored a run in the
1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 6th inning, ripped a
base-hit plating a run in the 7th inning and lined a single in the 9th
inning. The Detroit offense man-handled the Cleveland pitching staff as they
scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory was credited to Dauss(5-1) who went the distance, allowing 5 runs.
George Uhle(4-4) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 15 hits and 4
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Detroit now has a record of 27-19. With the loss, Cleveland has a record of
4-6 lately, 21-27 overall.

Joe Judge hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI and Walter Johnson had a complete game
at Griffith Stadium as the Washington Senators beat the Boston Red Sox by the
count of 10 to 9.

Washington scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning with 3 runs utilizing
3 base hits. Roger Peckinpaugh kicked off the action when he doubled.
Johnson followed, but he was set down on strikes. One out later, Bucky
Harris then delivered a base-hit. Harris took second on a stolen base. Sam
Rice came up to bat and drew a walk. Judge kept things alive and doubled.
Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.

Johnson(6-1) was the winner allowing 9 runs for the game. The losing pitcher
was Bill Piercy(1-1) in relief. Clyde Milan was in a talkative mood in the
clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't
that be nice! Since that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one
for a little while.'

Carl Mays tossed a shutout and Bob Meusel went deep and had 2 RBI at Polo
Grounds where the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Athletics by the
score of 7 to 0.

Mays(7-2) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't allow much,
just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 3.51 to 3.17. New
York had a total of 12 hits for the game.

Fred Heimach(0-4) was charged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings and
surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk.
