WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Frank Ellerbe robbed Muddy Ruel of a base hit.

In a thriller the Boston Red Sox staged a dramatic comeback then held on to
win over the St. Louis Browns by a score of 7 to 6 at Sportsman's
Park.

Boston came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Frank O'Rourke
jump-started the rally as he drew a walk. Muddy Ruel came next and he
delivered a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Ed Chaplin followed,
but he was set down on strikes. Mike Menosky stepped in and he lined a
single. Elmer Smith stepped into the box and drew a walk. Del Pratt
continued the rally and ripped a single. Pratt took second on the throw.
This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead
kept changing - 5 times in all.

Curt Fullerton(1-2) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Benn Karr recorded his 1st save. Urban Shocker(5-9) was hit with
the loss. He allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

'The only way this one could have been better', said Fullerton, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
